Well… It’s been a while since I have posted a blog here. Between work and family, it has been incredibly busy and I have procrastinated writing a post, my bad.
I have started a quest to shed the extra pounds that I have been carrying for these many years. I have started out losing at a pretty good clip. In the first three weeks that I have started my fitness plan, I have lost 15lbs. I know that I shouldn’t expect to continue to loose the weight at that pace (although that would be nice.)
One major change that I have made is in my sleep pattern. I had regularly stayed up well past midnight watching TV. This was the opportunity for me to raid our house’s snack closet… which I was doing at a regular pace. This along with having to get up at 6am to get ready for work was causing me to become deprived of sleep. Lack of sleep is not a good thing for Diabetes and it was starting to show along with weight gain.
So on July 1, 2017 I decided to make a change. I started by waking up at 4:45 am and taking a 2.5 mile walk before I got ready for work. It is incredible on how quiet and beautiful it is at that time of morning. I really gives me a chance to think clearly and plan, in my head, what I am going to do that day.
I have also started taking walks right after Supper with my wife, another 2-3 miles depending on the temperature that day… We have had some really muggy days over the past couple of weeks.
I also have started going to bed right after my Wife and I tuck in my girls for the night, usually around 9:45PM. This means that I have cut out all evening snacks and no more late-night run-ins with the dreaded “snack closet”.
Like I had said, so far I have lost 15lbs and I have another 20lbs to go. I hope to reach that goal by September 1.
